The Holy Mantle to St. Joseph: Complete Prayer

BEGINNING OF THE SACRED MANTLE

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Jesus, Joseph and Mary, I give you my heart and soul;

Jesus, Joseph and Mary, assist me in my final agony;

Jesus, Joseph and Mary, let my last food be the Holy Eucharist;

Jesus, Joseph and Mary, may my soul depart in peace with You.

3 Gloria to the Most Holy Trinity to give thanks for raising St. Joseph to a quite exceptional dignity.

Here I am, O great Patriarch, prostrate devoutly before you. I present you this precious Mantle and at the same time I offer you the purpose of my faithful and sincere devotion. All that I may do in your honor, during my lifetime, I intend to perform, to show you the love I have for you. Help me, Saint Joseph! Assist me now and throughout my life, but especially assist me at the hour of my death, as you were assisted by Jesus and Mary, that I may one day honor you in the heavenly homeland for all eternity. Amen.

O Glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, prostrate before you, I devoutly present my homage to you and begin to offer you this precious collection of prayers, in remembrance of the innumerable virtues that adorn your holy Person. In thee was fulfilled the mysterious dream of the ancient Joseph, who was an anticipated figure of thee: for not only did the divine Sun surround thee with its most radiant rays, but the mystic Moon, Mary, also illumined thee with her sweet light. Glorious Patriarch, if the example of Jacob, who went in person to rejoice with his beloved son exalted above the throne of Egypt, served to draw the other sons to you as well, will not the example of Jesus and Mary, who honored you with all their esteem and with all their confidence, serve, so that I too may participate in devotions in your honor? O great saint, let the Lord turn a benevolent gaze upon me. And just as the ancient Joseph did not cast out the guilty brethren, but welcomed them full of love, protected them and saved them from starvation and death, so may you, O glorious Patriarch, through your intercession, grant that the Lord will not abandon me in this valley of exile. Obtain for me the grace to be always among your devoted servants living serenely under the mantle of your protection, every day of their lives and at the moment of their last breath. Amen.

PRAYERS

1) Hail, O glorious St. Joseph, depositary of the incomparable treasures of Heaven and putative father of the One who nourishes all creatures. After Mary Most Holy, you are the Saint most worthy of our love and deserving of our veneration. Of all the Saints, you alone had the honor of raising, guiding, nurturing and embracing the Messiah whom so many Prophets and Kings had longed to see. Saint Joseph, save my soul and obtain for me from divine mercy the grace I humbly implore. I beseech Thee also for the blessed Souls in Purgatory: relieve their pains.

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

2) O mighty St. Joseph who was declared the universal patron of the Church, I invoke thee among all the Saints as a very strong protector of the wretched, and I bless thy heart a thousand times, always ready to succor all kinds of needs. O dear St. Joseph, to thee do the widow, the orphan, the abandoned, the afflicted have recourse; there is no sorrow, distress or misfortune that thou hast not mercifully relieved. Deign, therefore, to use on my behalf the means that God has placed in your hands, so that I may attain the grace I ask of you. Holy Souls of Purgatory, supplicate St. Joseph for me.

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

3) You, O dear Saint, to so many thousands who have prayed to you before me have given comfort and peace, graces and favors. My soul, sad and sorrowful, finds no rest in the midst of the anxieties by which it is oppressed. You know all my needs, even before I expound them in prayer. Thou knowest how much I need the grace I ask of thee. I prostrate myself before you and sigh, O dear St. Joseph, under the heavy burden that oppresses me. No human heart is open to me to which I can confide my sorrows, and though I should find compassion with some charitable soul, yet she could not help me. To you, therefore, I have recourse and I hope that you will not reject me, for St. Teresa said and left written in her memoirs, "Whatever grace you ask of St. Joseph, it will certainly be granted." St. Joseph, comforter of the afflicted, have mercy on my sorrow and pity on the Holy Souls in Purgatory who hope so much from our prayers.

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

4) O great saint, by your perfect obedience to God, have mercy on me. By your holy life full of merits, hear me; by your dearest name, help me; by your most clement heart, succor me; by your holy tears, comfort me; by your seven sorrows, have compassion on me; by your seven joys, comfort my heart. From every evil of soul and body deliver me; from every danger and misfortune remove me. Succor me with your holy protection and obtain for me, in your mercy and power, what I need and especially the grace I particularly need. I beseech thee again, dear St. Joseph, to intercede for the Holy Souls in Purgatory and obtain prompt deliverance from their pains.

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

5) O blessed St. Joseph, innumerable are the graces and favors you obtain for the afflicted poor. Sick of all kinds, oppressed, slandered, betrayed, deprived of all human comfort, wretched in need of bread or support, implore your royal protection and are answered in their requests. Do not allow, O St. Joseph dearest, that I may be the only one, among so many beneficent people, who remains deprived of the grace I have asked of you. Show yourself powerful and generous to me also, and I, thanking you, will exclaim, "Long live the glorious Patriarch Saint Joseph, my great protector and particular deliverer of the Holy Souls in Purgatory."

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

6) O Eternal Divine Father, through the merits of Jesus and Mary, deign to grant me the grace I implore. In the Names of Jesus and Mary, I prostrate myself reverently in Your divine presence and devoutly beseech You to accept my firm decision to persevere in the ranks of those who live under the protection of St. Joseph. Bless therefore the precious Mantle that I dedicate to him today as a pledge of my devotion.

3 Gloria

JACULATORY - O Saint Joseph, defend the Holy Church from all adversity and extend your patronage over each of us.

I, as of this moment, elect you my father, my protector, my guide, and place under your special care my soul, my body, all that I have and all that I am, my life and my death. Look upon me as your son; defend me from all my visible and invisible enemies; assist me in all necessities; comfort me in the bitterness of life, but especially in the agony of death. The Meaning of St. Joseph

Patron faith father guide

St. Joseph's role in the Holy Family shows the importance of guidance, protection and humility in family life. Think of Joseph's actions when Mary told him she was expecting Jesus. Instead of reacting with anger or disbelief, he listened to God's message through the angel. He chose to guide and protect Mary and Jesus, showing patience and trust. This teaches you how crucial it is to be understanding and supportive in your family.

Joseph also showed incredible humility. He did not seek attention or praise. Instead, he worked quietly as a carpenter, making sure his family had what they needed. Imagine the sense of security he brought to Mary and Jesus with his sure hands and loving heart. You can follow his example by contributing to your family's well-being without seeking applause.

Finally, Joseph's unwavering faith in God's plan, even when it was difficult, is a powerful lesson for you. Facing family challenges with faith and trust that things will work out can make all the difference. St. Joseph's life is a wonderful guide to lead your family with love, humility and unwavering support.
